This blog follows the assembly of an all aluminium Van's RV-8A aerobatic 2 place aircraft kit.
When completed, the aircraft is inspected by the 'Light Aircraft Association's' approved inspectors and when satisfactory is granted a permit to fly. Aircraft kit no. is #80697
This is a photographic record of my build project and is primarily of use to me and other builders.
Chris Harrison flew the first UK example of an RV-8A and this was captured on a shaky and noisy camera in video. Best you turn off the sound to view and also use full screen as it's a very tiny shot!!!
After months of anquish preparing for my PFA inspection, My inspector, Bob Wright approves the empennage for skin closure etc. Phew....! Three more section approved for the ''blue book".
This photo does not convey the size of the trailer load. At just over 5mtrs long it's l o n g! My trusty wife Lesley was on hand throughout the unloading process. It was surprisingly easy to offload with judicious use of levers and blocks etc.
