Drilling of Elevator Horns.

DSCN0527.JPGYou can see how I was able to accurately drill the hole in the port elevator horn. It worked a treat having had the AN4 bolt drilled through the centre perfectly.

It also acts as a bushing and protection for the bearing! The hole was initially drilled at #40 then opened up in stages to accommodate the bolt shank

This is the underneath of the previous items. You can see there is very little room to manouvre. The hole 3/16 must be place 1/2" from the outer edge of the longeron so it's very tight indeed.

This is a tricky operation with the turtle deck inplace. It's a critical component, in an inaccesible place. Plans require great scrutiny to place the holes precisely and squarely through the parts required compliant with the MED. The Red item is the plastic base of one of my clamps! The swarf is just there to add dramatic effect.

The HS was built by the original kit owner. This was belived to have been constructed in 2000-1 and was inspected and 'signed off' as satisfactory by Rob Millinship. PFA Inspector.
