Ahh, that looks promising...... I'll just check it out againt the
drawing to refine it a little more. Wait.... what's this? There's
another drawing that I did'nt see and I've built the part for an RV8
and not the 8A!!! Blast and double blast!!!! I've not got enough material to salvage two new parts so it's back to Van's yet again to order the aluminium!!
That chin needs some work on it too!!!
Using a band/hand saw and a vixen file to 'shape up' nicely to the drawing spec.
As this site is supposed to catalogue my build process, I've included these entries to show how sometimes things just don't go the way I expected them to!!!
So this is how to make the F-863. First measure and draw out the cut to lines......

I've clecoed the left W-821 so that I can back drill it as it saves some work in measuring out.
Standard drillout. Ignore the vertical marks on the left of the holes as I changed my markup at the last moment!
The Flap Brace W-821 is NOT fully pre-punched and the 'wing' flange needs to be measured out and drilled accordingly. I then used this 'drilled out' brace as a template for the other lhs brace and also to align prior to drilling out the trailing edge of the lower wing skins which were also NOT pre-punched.
As a precaution, after marking out the 1/4" edge distance I also used a spring punch to ensure I did not drift off with the drill out.
